Virtual Traffic Stop is a new app developed by the Human Experience Research Lab (HXRLab) of the Computer Science department at the University of Florida led by Prof Juan Gilbert. The idea is to virtually connect the driver and the police officer through video conferencing software during a routine traffic stop. The hope is that having the initial contact between a police officer and a driver via the app will help to ease the tensions that easily escalate into shooting incidents.
Listen to Dr Gilbert talk about their motivations and the features of the app. Feedback is welcome!
